Happy Tippy Tap Thursday!

Thank God for the youth today. So much painting and so little time!!!!! After a tour of the seminary and some goat-petting, the team finished painting the multi-purpose room. Bridget began her mural of Jesus and the children on the front wall of the room. It is beautiful to watch it take shape, stroke by stroke. Bridget's gifts are so incredible, and seeing her share them with the village put smiles on the faces of the whole team. The walls of the multi-purpose room must be able to withstand a classroom of energetic but messy nursery children, so we painted the lower half of the wall with oil paint. The school sign and exterior of the multi-purpose room got fresh new coats of paint as well, after both wore out and faded

in the harsh African weather. The multi-purpose room finally has a fresh look, outside and in!

While their classroom was repainted, the nursery students had their bible study under the big tree, learning about John the Baptist and the baptism of Jesus! After listening attentively, they enjoyed a little taste of honey at the end to represent the wild honey of John. While nursery enjoyed the shade, our other team members worked under the heat of an unblocked Ugandan sun! BK, Tippy Tap Tim and Nifty Noah worked to put together 3 new hand washing stations, called tippy taps. They drilled holes in jerry cans and hung them between PVC arches, such that the water poured out of the jerry can when tilted. To allow the kids to operate them autonomously, a string attached to a make-shift pedal allows the kids to simple step on a stick and get water pouring down! Initial struggles were overcome by some quick thinking by BK, who designed the plan for the tippy-taps.

Unfortunately, BK and Terri had to leave the team early, and said their goodbyes today, to the team, the village and their sponsor kids. With no time to spare, after saying goodbye to the Larson's,  the team kept working and finally when the sun was setting, some of the team got a chance to rock out on the ukulele! The kids were so happy to hear the music, try out the tippy taps, and see the mural as it comes together. What a better way to end the day than with a rainbow, as we drove home. God truly has kept his promises today.
